United States is to assess its defense and diplomatic footprint in Somalia within the next 90 days.
This was revealed in a statement from Washington, D.C. on December 16.
US enjoys strong diplomatic relations with the East African nation.
However, the US now wants to reexamine its relations with Somalia with a view to clarifying, enhancing, or reducing them further.
Further, the US would also assess the impact of reducing its troops – US African Command Mission (AFRICOM) – in Somalia.
Late last year, the US pulled out its troops from Somalia.
The US now intends to launch a range of new measures that should define its relations with and presence in Somalia.
