The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is to help Somalia to build the first fully functional national blood bank in the country.
UNOPS will work closely with UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to deliver the blood bank.
The project would cost around $3 million to put up. UNFPA is to provide the funds.
On its part, the WHO will provide much-needed technical guidance.
UNOPS’s role is to plan, design, and construct the blood bank. It is also responsible for procuring the equipment needed to run the blood bank.
The blood bank will be in Mogadishu.
