Upper House Urges FGS and FMS to Resume Dhusamareb Talks

The Upper House has urged the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the Federal Member States (FMS) to resume the Dhusamareb talks fast.

FGS joined FMS in Dhusamareb in late July to discuss the country’s preferred electoral model.

However, there have been fears that President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo would fail to attend the next round of talks in Galmudug’s administrative capital.

Nevertheless, Farmaajo promised Members of Parliament that he would attend the talks and left for Dhusamareb on Saturday August 15.

He will meet President Mohamed Abdi Ware of HirShabelle, President Abdiasis Mohamed Lafta-Gareen of Southwest, and President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor of Galmudug.

Furthermore, President Ahmed Madobe of Jubbaland and President Said Abdullahi Deni of Puntland are also expected at the meeting.
