The United States Ambassador in Somalia, Donald Yamamoto, has called for an end to the armed conflict in Beled-Hawo.
The Ambassador said, “We ask both sides to cease the armed conflict and seek peaceful solutions to the political impasse that affects the region.”
Somalis have been caught in the crossfire as troops of the Federal Government of Somalia fights Abdirashid Janan’s forces while attempting to arrest the fugitive from Jubaland.
Earlier on Monday, a heavy gunfight broke out between the two sides along Somalia’s border with Kenya. More than ten people were injured during the fight.
The daylong battles interrupted normalcy along the border and made its way into Mandera Town in Kenya.
