The United States Congress plans to debate a bill on granting Somaliland the international recognition for which it craves.
Reports from the US indicate that 23 lawmakers have submitted a motion at the Congress on this.
Congressman Kevin Hern drafted the bill, which enjoys the support of 22 Republic lawmakers.
The lawmakers submitted the bill to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the US Congress on Thursday, March 18.
Interestingly, the motion goes before Congress at a time when Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi Abdi is touring the US.
Thus far, Bihi has held discussions with US government officials.
He has also met with members of the US House of Representatives and the Senate.
