United States military continues to train special forces in Somalia.
General Stephen Townsend confirmed this on January 25.
In his speech, Gen. Townsend confirmed that the US military had not stopped training Danab Special Forces.
He was speaking almost two years after the US military withdrew from the East African nation before being repositioned to the neighboring nations of Kenya and Djibouti.
Gen. Townsend is the Commander of the US Africa Command (AFRICOM).
Townsend stated that around 100 US soldiers continue training Danab soldiers.
Danab soldiers are responsible for the fight against terrorism in Somalia.
