US Embassy Mourns Somali Journalist Killed in Deadly Explosion

The United States Embassy in Mogadishu has conveyed its message of condolences to the family of a journalist who was killed in a deadly explosion in the city earlier on Friday.

The Embassy issued a statement condemning the attack that caused the death of Ahmed Mohamed So’dal in an explosion near Bal’ad town.

Mohamed died in the same explosion that killed Brigadier General Farhan Mohamoud Aden Qarole, the Mogadishu police commander.

In its statement, the Embassy stated that journalists not only cover wars but also expose corruption, lift up communities, and hold the powerful to account.

In this regard, it honored Mohamed who died while in the line of duty.

The journalist lost his life while covering the ongoing offensive operations by security forces in the nation’s capital and other parts of the country.
