US Expresses Deep Concerns with Somalia’s Electoral Impasse

The United States has expressed deep concerns with the ongoing electoral impasse in Somalia.

On March 19, Secretary of State Antony Blinken issued a statement saying that the US government is “deeply concerned by the electoral impasse in Somalia.”

In his statement, the Secretary of State urged leaders in Somalia to find ways of holding elections “immediately.”

Further, he hit back at the ongoing uncertainty in the East African nation.

Blinken reminded Somali leaders and citizens that continued uncertainty paves the way for the undermining of security, stability, and prosperity.
