US is Ready to Foster Dialogue between Somalia and Somaliland, Says Amb. Riley

Today, Ambassador Richard Riley reiterated  United States’ unwavering stance on Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its 1960 borders.

Speaking at a townhall meeting, he highlighted Washington’s commitment to fostering dialogue between Hargeisa (Somaliland) and Mogadishu to improve relations and address longstanding tensions.

On the ongoing conflict between Somaliland and SSC-Khatumo, Amb. Riley urged for peaceful negotiations, emphasizing the need for stability in the region.

He also addressed concerns over the controversial MoU signed by Ethiopia and Somaliland, noting its potential implications and echoing skepticism regarding its impact on Somalia’s unity and regional dynamics.

These statements underline the role of the US as a key mediator advocating for dialogue and resolution while respecting Somalia’s territorial framework.
