The United States has assured Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble of increased support for his leadership.
Larry Andre, the US Ambassador to Somalia, gave this public assurance on March 22.
Ambassador Andre stated that the US government would continue supporting Roble’s leadership in the ongoing elections.
Somalia is on the final stages of holding parliamentary elections.
Only two regional states – HirShabelle and Jubbaland – are yet to conclude their House of the People elections.
Prime Minister Roble had initially given the regional states a deadline of February 25 to conclude the polls.
However, he led the National Consultative Council (NCC) in pushing the deadline to March 15.
Ambassador Andre assured Roble that he has the support of the US on this matter.
