The United States government has promised stern action against any individual who derails the ongoing parliamentary elections in Somalia.
On January 12, the US Bureau of African Affairs issued this warning.
In its warning, the Bureau of African Affairs indicates that Somalia elections are behind schedule by more than one year.
Consequently, it encouraged Somali leaders and stakeholders to adhere to the recent National Consultative Council (NCC) agreement.
The conference, which ended on Sunday, stated that elections for all parliamentary seats must take place by February 25, 2022.
