The United States urges Somalia and international partners to maintain momentum in the ongoing war against Al-Shabaab militants.
Lloyd Austin, the US Defense Secretary, issued this call when he held discussions with Aden Duale in Nairobi on Monday.
Duale is the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary of Defense.
“We all have to maintain the momentum built in Somalia in the war on Al-Shabaab,” said the US Defense Secretary.
Lloyd added that momentum is crucial considering the challenges and setbacks that Somalia and its partners have faced in recent times.
He arrived in the Kenyan capital a day after meeting Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Djibouti.
