Victims of the recent forced eviction in Las Anod have received a donation of $200,000 from Hormuud Telecom and the Salaam Somali Bank (SSB).
Authorities in Somaliland have evicted thousands of Las Anod residents since October 2.
Hormuud Salaam Foundation would supervise the disbursement of the donation on behalf of the telecom firm and its subsidiary bank.
Senior officials made the announcement regarding the donation from the telecom firm.
Ahmed Mohamed Yusuf, Hormuud’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), led the team from the telecom company on October 17.
Representatives from SSB and the Foundation were also present.
Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Abdullahi Osman said that the donation would go into alleviating predicaments that the evictees undergo.
