The leader of the opposition Wadajir Party has urged regional state leaders to boycott the talks called by President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.
A communiqué from Villa Somalia on March 1 said that Farmaajo would hold and attend an event on Thursday.
He is expected to talk about the ongoing talks on elections.
Abdirahman Abdishakur, the Wadajir Party leader, said that Farmaajo’s event is designed to derail ongoing talks between the opposition and the Prime Minister.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has already met opposition leaders twice.
He is now scheduled to hold a follow-up meeting with them on Thursday; the same day Farmaajo’s event takes place.
Abdishakur urged regional state leaders not to attend Farmaajo’s event.
In his view, the event is Farmaajo’s strategy for undermining the efforts by Prime Minister Roble to reach a binding agreement on elections.
