Wadajir Party Urges Somalia’s New Prime Minister to Implement Elections Deal Fairly

Wadajir Party has urged the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia to implement the new elections deal “fairly and through consultations.”

On Thursday, President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo announced the appointment of Mohamed Hussein Roble as the new Prime Minister.

Roble takes over from Mahdi M. Gulaid who has been serving on an acting capacity since the House of Representatives voted to kick Hassan Ali Khaire out of office in late July.

Wadajir Party released a press statement on Friday September 18 wishing Roble success in his new office.

The opposition party urged Roble to implement the election deal that FGS agreed on with FMS fairly and after consulting widely with all the stakeholders.

The party reminded Roble of the “difficult situation” that Somalia finds itself in, especially with a “delicate political transition” waiting on the wings.
