The United States has rejected claims that it supports the request by Somalia to halt the withdrawal of African Union (AU) forces.
Shane Dixon, the Charge d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Mogadishu, declared this on Wednesday.
He added that the US government would not stop supporting the ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab militants around Somalia.
Dixon spoke about the request that Somalia made on September 19.
Somalia made a formal request for postponement of the withdrawal of AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) forces from the country for up to 90 days.
Dixon assured Somalia that the US would continue offering air support.
