WFP Commends Partners for Helping to Avert Famine in Somalia in 2022

The World Food Programme (WFP) commended international and local partners for working together to avert famine in Somalia in 2022.

On Monday, WFP released a report detailing the measures taken to prevent a humanitarian crisis that would have arisen out of the famine.

The partners that worked closely with WFP to remedy the situation in Somalia last year included Finland, Japan, and France.

To forestall the situation, WFP and its partners imported 25,000 metric tons of grain from Ukraine, which was at war with Russia at the time.
