United Nations World Food Programme has joined forces with United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to eradicate malnutrition from Somalia.
The two global organizations have also partnered with Germany, which provides funding for the project, to protect women and children especially in the face of the ravages of COVID-19.
Through the project, vulnerable individuals and households in different parts of Somalia keep benefiting from supplementary food.
Young children are now taken to nearest health facilities to have their weights and heights taken to determine if they are suffering from malnutrition.
However, the initiative is producing exceptional results and offering hope to thousands of vulnerable households because of the support of Ministry of Health in Somalia.
In Somalia, malnutrition has become a huge threat. Currently, one out of every 10 children is at risk of malnutrition.
