Participants at the 77th World Health Assembly (WHA77) have adopted a resolution initiated by Somalia.
Representatives from the countries attending this year’s WHA in Geneva approved the resolution that Somalia initiated and was supported by more than 20 nations.
They all agreed to work hard to reduce maternal and child mortality rates around the globe.
Dr. Ali Hajiadam, Somalia’s Minister of Health, revealed this during a media interview with Voice of America (VOA) Somalia.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 287,000 women lose their lives in childbirth or pregnancy each year.
WHO added that 4.9 million children around the world also die before their fifth birthday.
