World Food Programme Issues Ration Cards to Feed Vulnerable Somalis

The World Food Programme (WFP) has issued ration cards to help vulnerable people in Somalia to meet their food needs.

WFP launched the cards to help Somalis who are facing hard times because of the ongoing floods around the country that make it impossible to access local markets.

Many Somalis now live as Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) after heavy rains caused massive floods that chased them out of their homes.

Consequently, they are unable to find meaningful and gainful employment from which to earn income and fend for their families.

USAID Somalia has partnered with WFP Somalia to ensure that such individuals have enough to meet their daily food needs.

USAID has partnered with several suppliers who transport the food to the most vulnerable parts of the country.

Its partners also ensure that the food supplies get to the places where they are most needed.
