Al-Shabaab militants launched a shocking and deadly dawn attack on an army forward operating base near Xawaadleey in HirShabelle State, Somalia.
The attack began with a suicide vehicle explosion, resulting in the death of Deputy Commissioner Muuse Mohamed.
National armed forces and regional troops retaliated during the Friday attack, chasing away the militants and killing 11, according to local witnesses and officials.
Despite the incident, Xawaadleey remains under the full control of government troops.
