The United States military carried out the latest military attack on an Al-Shabaab base in Central Somalia with airstrikes on Friday, July 23.
Two unmanned drones hit the militants’ base in central Mudug region.
The airstrikes followed days of fighting between government forces assisted by provincial forces and the militia’s fighters.
According to sources, the incident took place between two villages; Qayad and Hareri Dhere.
Senior military officers sent out a call for help to the US military as the fighting with the militants proceeded in the last two days.
Nevertheless, the US is yet to confirm that it was responsible for the airstrikes.
