Ambassador Francisco Madeira, the Head of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) met with the force’s new commander on August 18.
Lt. Gen. Diomede Ndegeya steps in to serve as AMISOM’s Force Commander.
On Tuesday, he had a chance to meet with Ambassador Madeira, who also doubles as the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission (SRCC).
During their meeting, the two discussed several issues.
However, a communiqué released from Ambassador Madeira’s office showed that their discussions mostly revolved around AMISOM’s priorities.
They also talked about the security situation around Somalia and the country’s transition plan.
