African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) has commended the late President Jerry Rawlings of Ghana for statesmanship and dedicated service to humanity.
“AMISOM celebrates the deceased ex-President of Ghana as a statesman,” a statement from the organization released on Sunday, November 15 read.
Rawlings passed away on November 12, 2020 of COVID-19 complications.
The late Ghanaian president served as the AU High Representative for Somalia between 2010 and 2012.
In its statement, AMISOM indicated that Rawlings worked hard to restore peace and security in the East African nation during his tenure in office.
