The Commander in Chief of the Somali National Army (SNA) General Yussuf Rageh visited victims of the recent Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in Mogadishu who are in hospital receiving treatment for their injuries.
Health and military officials accompanied General Rageh during his visit.
On Monday, the army chief escaped an attempted assassination in Mogadishu. The incident occurred when a suicide bomber drove a car loaded with IED into the army chief’s convoy. One person died during the incident while eight others were injured.
Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attempted assassination of the most senior military official in the country. It is the latest in a series of attacks the Al-Qaeda linked group has carried out against government officials, AMISOM troops, and individuals in Somalia.
