ATMIS’ Anti-Aircraft Unit Gets a New Commander

The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) has a new commander for its Anti-Aircraft Unit.

Colonel Wilson Twesigye formally took over the unit’s command on April 13.

On Wednesday, ATMIS held a handing-over ceremony in Mogadishu.

Col. Twesigye takes over from Colonel Samuel Mwesigwa.

Col. Mwesigwe has completed his term and tour of duty.

Colonel David Opero, the Deputy Contingent Commander of ATMIS’ Ugandan contingent, presided over the handing-over ceremony.

During the ceremony, Col. Opero urged military commanders to lead their troops in implementing the mandate of the new mission.
