Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, during a town-hall event organized by Minbar Initiative on Thursday night, highlighted the significant achievements of the Somali government in its ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab.
Barre listed the achievements by the government in the recent operations against Al-Shabaab militants in Somalia.
He reported that the government has successfully crippled 40% of the militant group’s finances and has conducted more than 900 operations that have resulted in the deaths of over 5,000 militants.
Additionally, the government has facilitated the surrender of 1,769 individuals affiliated with al-Shabab and has suspended 10,000 social media accounts used for propaganda by the group.
