China and the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) have been discussing ways of increasing their cooperation to make Somalia more secure.
On Saturday, Fei Shengchao and Souef Mohamed El-Amine met to discuss this issue further.
Shengchao, the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, was with El-Amine, the Head of ATMIS, at the Chinese Embassy in Mogadishu.
El-Amine, who also doubles as the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the AU Commission (SRCC), briefed Amb. Shengchao on the latest ATMIS plans for Somalia.
Discussions on ways of handling the growing threat of Al-Shabaab featured prominently in their meeting too.
