China has handed over 500,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines to Somalia.
Fei Shengchao, the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, handed over the consignment to Dr. Fawziya Abikar Nur, Somalia’s Minister of Health.
The handing over ceremony took place on December 6 right at the Aden Adde International Airport in Mogadishu.
In addition to the Sinopharm vaccines, the Chinese government also handed over half-a-million syringes to Somalia to use in the ongoing vaccination exercise.
COVID-19 has killed thousands of Somalis since the first case was confirmed in March 2020.
Tens of thousands more have already tested positive to the virulent disease.
