Cyclone Gati Loses Intensity in Somalia

Weather experts have announced reduced intensity of Cyclone Gati in Somalia.

A joint statement by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Somalia Water and Land Information Management (SWALIM) on November 25 said the cyclone is now less intense.

Cyclone Gati made a landfall in Somalia’s northern areas, especially in Puntland, on November 22.

A day later, its intensity shot up significantly thus causing deaths and destroying property.

However, FAO and SWAMIL noted that its intensity had reduced significantly in the last 12 hours leading up to November 25.

Nevertheless, it urged Somalis in the affected areas to be on the lookout for light to moderate rainfall associated with Cyclone Gati for the next 24 hours.
