President Said Abdullahi Deni and his counterpart President Ahmed Islan Madobe met representatives of the international community at Mogadishu’s Halane Base.
The heavily fortified base was the venue of the meeting between leaders from Puntland and Jubbaland and representatives from several of Somalia’s international partners.
Some of the country’s partners represented at the meeting include the United Kingdom, Sweden, Italy, and European Union ambassadors.
Deni and Madobe are in Mogadishu for a meeting with President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS).
The three leaders are expected to discuss issues revolving around the upcoming elections in the East African nation.
Deni and Madobe were absent during the recently concluded Dhusamareb III talks where those present signed an agreement on the preferred electoral model to use in the polls.
The Tuesday meeting with the international partners focused on the need to diffuse the stalemate on elections, which are due on November 2020 and March 2021.
