FAO Says the Locust Invasion in Somalia Remains Dangerous

Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) says that the desert locust invasion in Somalia has not abated but remains dangerous.

According to the global organization, Somaliland and Puntland remains the most affected regions in the country.

A swarm of immature locusts has been spotted in both Somaliland and Puntland.

However, FAO has discovered that Puntland’s case is more precarious because of the presence of mature swarms too.

Thus far, FAO and some of Somalia’s other international partners have successfully placed 73,097ha under control.
