Lawmaker Sareedo Mohamed Abdulle has expressed outrage after security forces at Mogadishu’s Aden Abdulle Airport blocked her from traveling to her constituency in Baydhabo, the interim capital of SouthWest State.
In a media statement, she condemned the action as “unconstitutional” and described it as an “insult” to the immunity of Members of Parliament and a threat to Somalia’s fragile federal system.
Abdulle demanded an immediate explanation for the incident, warning that if such actions continue, it could lead to a breakdown in law and order, with people potentially taking the law into their own hands.
This incident highlights the ongoing tensions between federal authorities and regional states, as well as concerns about the state of democracy and the rule of law in Somalia.
