G7 Nations Express Concern over Ethiopia’s MoU with Somaliland

The Group of 7 (G7) nations have expressed concern over the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that Ethiopia signed with Somaliland on January 1, 2024.

Meeting on Friday, Ministers of Foreign Affairs from the G7 nations said that the MoU is a matter of grave concern.

The foreign affairs ministers who spoke on this matter are from Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, France, Italy, and Germany.

They called on Somalia and Ethiopia to do all in their powers to embrace dialogue.

The MoU has created a huge diplomatic rift between Somalia and Ethiopia. Somalia has repeatedly accused Ethiopia of dishonoring its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
