Galmudug to Hold 1P1V Elections, Declares Qoorqoor

Galmudug State President Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoorqoor has announced that his administration will hold a one-person, one-vote (1P1V) election.

President Qoorqoor made this announcement on Thursday while leading the regional state’s 18th anniversary celebrations.

This move represents a significant step towards enhancing democratic practices in Galmudug.

Additionally, President Qor Qor has cautioned against any attempts to influence the election process through armed force, emphasizing the importance of a free and fair election.

The regional election is scheduled to take place in the coming months, marking a pivotal moment for the region’s political future.

Thus far, Puntland remains the sole regional state in Somalia to have announced intentions to hold 1P1V elections.

Puntland failed to elect its leaders using this model in the most recent elections, though.
