Governor Abdisalan Hassan Guj’ir of Nugal was among several top regional officials who were injured in a suicide bomb explosion on Sunday evening.
The attack took place at Garowe Police Station.
According to statements from the police and several witnesses, a man wearing a suicide vest detonated his explosives near a vehicle carrying top regional personnel.
At the time of the incident, a former regional police chief was in the vehicle together with Governor Gu’jir.
Local security authorities have said the two officials are admitted at Garowe Hospital where they are receiving medical attention.
At the time of filing this report, no group or individual had claimed responsibility for the deadly suicide attack right in the capital of Puntland.
