Mahdi M. Gulaid, the Acting Prime Minister of Somalia, has condoled with the people of Lebanon following a deadly blast that rocked Beirut on Tuesday evening.
Gulaid expressed his condolences to Lebanon’s Prime Minister Hassan B. Diab.
On Tuesday evening, a blast hit Lebanon’s capital killing dozens of people and injuring many others.
Authorities have said the blast occurred when 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate exploded at a facility where it had been stored.
Ammonium nitrate, a highly explosive product, is used to manufacture explosives and fertilizers.
Latest reports indicate that more than 100 people lost their lives in the incident while over 4,000 were wounded.
Furthermore, the incident has left up to a quarter of a million people homeless.
Prime Minister Gulaid expressed solace with Somalis’ brothers and sisters in Beirut. He also reassured the Lebanese of his country’s support and prayers during these trying moments.
