Authorities arrested a journalist during protests held in Mogadishu streets to express anger over the recent murder of a female National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) officer.
Last week, NISA announced that Al-Shabaab militants had killed Ikran Farah Tahlil, one of its female spies.
Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble was among the most senior government officials to rubbish the explanation NISA gave on Ikran’s murder.
On September 5, Somalis took to the streets to protest Ikran’s death.
However, Bashir Mohamud, a journalist working for Goobjoog Media Group, was arrested during the protests.
At the time, Mohamud was covering the protests.
While being arrested, Somali Police Force (SPF) officers dragged the Goobjoog journalist on the street as members of the public watched.
