President Ahmed Islam Madobe of Jubbaland condemned the assassination of a regional Member of Parliament (MP) by Al-Shabaab militants on January 1.
Khalif Hashim Moge was assassinated after a bomb planted inside his car exploded just after he boarded it on Friday.
The incident took place in Kismayo, the administrative capital of the semiautonomous state.
Moge’s murder represents the first time that Al-Shabaab is carrying out such an attack within Somalia in the New Year.
President Madobe sent his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late Moge.
Madobe encouraged the people of Jubbaland to cooperate with the security agents in the war against Al-Shabaab.
Earlier, Al-Shabaab had claimed responsibility for a murder that left the leadership and people of Jubbaland utterly shocked.
