Somali Member of Parliament Hassan Firinbi is reportedly under investigation following an altercation during a parliamentary session in which he punched a police officer, resulting in visible injuries.
The session, which was already heated due to debates over the approval of a controversial election body, descended into chaos as security forces intervened to restore order.
Authorities have confirmed the launch of an inquiry into the incident, which raises concerns about conduct within the precincts of parliament during critical discussions.
The incident attracted condemnation from various quarters, including the Somali Police Force (SPF) Commissioner, General Asad Osman.
