Madobe and Deni to Meet International Partners before Talks with Farmaajo

President Ahmed Islan Madobe and President Said Abdullahi Deni of Jubbaland and Puntland respectively are scheduled to meet international partners before their talks with President Mohamed Farmaajo.

Madobe and Deni are already in Mogadishu for their highly anticipated meeting with President Farmaajo on the upcoming polls in the country. The two leaders skipped Dhusamareb III talks where an agreement on the best electoral model to use for the polls was agreed upon.

Several representatives of the international community in the country voiced strong opinions against Deni and Madobe for their absence from Dhusamareb III. However, the two leaders said they would not attend until international community assigned a guarantor to the talks.

As they arrive at Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport, multiple sources indicate that they would have an opportunity to meet with representatives from the country’s international partners first.

Afterward, the two leaders would proceed to Villa Somalia where they are scheduled to discuss the upcoming elections further. The head of the United Nations in Somalia (UNSOM), James Swan, is expected to be in the meeting with international partners.
