Mogadishu Soccer Stadium Hosts First Official Football Match after Renovation

Mogadishu Soccer Stadium hosted its first official football match since the renovation works were completed at the facility.

The stadium has not seen much sporting action since the 1990s when civil war broke out in the East African nation.

However, it has been renovated by the Federal Government of Somalia with funding from the European Union in Somalia.

Norway also donated finances to help authorities hire professionals to repair the stadium and restore it back to its former glory.

On Friday afternoon, the stadium hosted its first official match.

Hundreds of spectators attended the match.

Nevertheless, it was worth noting that more spectators opted to stay away probably because of fears regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.
