Mogadishu Traders to Benefit from AU’s COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign

Dozens of traders in Mogadishu are likely to be the new beneficiaries of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Somali shop owners in the nation’s capital are scheduled to receive COVID-19 vaccines through the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) contingent, as part of AMISOM, will be administering the vaccines to shop owners, their assistants, and other traders.

Many of the traders already received their first dose on August 30, 2021.

All the traders who are now in line to receive the second dose operate from Mogadishu’s Marine Market.

The market had to be closed last year in March when the first case of COVID-19 was confirmed in the East African nation.
