On Wednesday, the National Consultative Council (NCC) meeting, chaired by President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, entered its second day in Mogadishu. The high-level discussions brought together key federal and state leaders to deliberate on Somalia’s pressing priorities, including enhancing national security, intensifying counter-terrorism efforts, promoting effective state-building, and advancing the country’s democratic transition.
The council’s ongoing dialogue aims to harmonize efforts across federal and state institutions to combat the persistent threat of Al-Shabaab and other extremist elements. Participants also focused on strengthening the foundations of Somalia’s governance, with an emphasis on inclusive political processes, institutional reforms, and preparations for future electoral milestones. The NCC reaffirmed its commitment to a unified, stable, and democratic Somalia, with continued coordination among all levels of government seen as vital to achieving long-term peace and prosperity.
