A new set of Somali National Army (SNA) troops arrived in Galkayo on Monday.
The soldiers had traveled by road from Mogadishu.
A few months ago, such a feat was impossible to carry out along the road that stretches for a distance of up to 750kms.
Such long-distance travel between the two cities is now possible because of the recent war waged against Al-Shabaab by combined SNA and local community forces.
