Opposition politicians in Somalia have announced that they would be holding a fresh rally on February 26.
The politicians issued a statement on Monday confirming this.
In their statement, they said that the rally would take place at the Unknown Soldier’s Monument in Mogadishu.
The Unknown Soldier’s Monument, also known as Daljirka Dahson Monument, was the venue of last week’s violent rally.
On February 19, the government disrupted attempts by opposition politicians to hold their anti-government rally at the same venue.
Reportedly, over 20 people were either injured or killed in Friday’s clashes.
The Council of Presidential Candidates’ Union met on Monday to urge as many Somalis as possible to gather for peaceful demonstrations in Mogadishu on Friday this week.
