Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre of Somalia met with United Nations Acting Special Representative James Swan on Wednesday to discuss several key issues.
Priorities included Somalia-UN cooperation, the push for one-person, one-vote elections, and the new African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM).
The discussions highlighted Somalia’s progress in democratization and state-building, with both parties acknowledging the UN’s significant support in areas such as humanitarian aid, security, and peace efforts.
This meeting brought to the fore the ongoing collaboration between Somalia and the UN in advancing stability and democratic governance in the region.
