A prominent politician in Somalia survived an assassination attempt that targeted him specifically in Mogadishu.
Abdullahi Sheikh Hassan, a leading Somali politician, escaped the assassination attempt carried out in the nation’s capital on Friday, May 20.
At the time, Hassan was making his way out of a mosque, which he had visited for his Friday prayers.
Reports indicate that the incident took place in Wadajir district, Mogadishu.
It’s not clear whether anyone else was injured in the incident.
No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack, which is among the first in Mogadishu since the city hosted the presidential elections held on Sunday, May 15.
