Puntland Airlifts Humanitarian Aid to Coastal Town’s Victims of Cyclone Pawan

Puntland’s government has sent an airplane carrying humanitarian aid to victims of Cyclone Pawan in several coastal towns.

Cyclone Pawan devastated over 300,000 and left them in dire need of humanitarian aid.

The aid would benefit residents in several towns that include Alula, Qandala, Gara’ad, Baargaal, Iskushuban, and Hafun. The regions affected are Gardafu, Nugal, and Bari.

Ahmed Karash, the Vice President of Puntland, arrived in Alula via a cargo plane carrying the humanitarian aid the state’s administration had sent to locals.

The plane left Garowe early on Sunday morning.

Meanwhile, Karash is expected to join other government officials to assess the extent of the damage the cyclone left behind in the state.

Pawan interfered with the shipping lane that connects Somalia with Gulf States. It has also destroyed livestock, crops, houses, infrastructure, and livelihoods.
