Puntland Residents Ask FAO for Long-Term Solutions to Drought

Residents of the regional state of Puntland have asked the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for long-term solutions to the recurrent drought in Somalia.

The residents passed this message to Etienne Peterschmitt, the FAO Representative and Country Director for Somalia.

Peterschmitt led a FAO delegation to visit Puntland on September 15.

Currently, FAO and other stakeholders are assisting locals with access to water as the drought continues to bite.

On Thursday, Peterschmitt and his team visited Ina-carays, Burtinle District.

He held discussions with community leaders, who asked him for long-term solutions to enable them and their families to cope well with similar disasters in the future.
